Kalanggaman Island: A Favorite Island of the Gods

Cover_zpsncv34eiq

According to an ancient Filipino legend, when the bathalas (gods) made the world, they took special time in creating the verdant and lovely island nation of the Philippines. The expenditure of extra time was worth it as they saw how beautiful the country is. They were so impressed with their creation that they decided to make 7,107 more of these islands, each with its own geologic, historical, and cultural characteristic. Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte is one of these beautiful paradises.

We heard about the immense beauty and serenity of Kalanggaman Island a few years ago through word-of-mouth by other outdoorspeople. They described so enticingly that we decided we should set foot on it this year. So, along with Mark Monta of Face Cebu and Cebu Bloggers Society, Jerrold Ng of JulyRain214, best friends Alexa and Lei, Rolly Atienza of Paradukdok with his family, Sweetie’s colleagues, and a few close friends, we set forth to this island paradise in the middle of the Camotes Sea.

Bohol:#Panglao Island

Panglao_Island_resort_bohol

Panglao Island is one of the main tourist destinations on the Philippines. Alona Beach is the most popular tourist spot on the island, noted for its white sand and clear water. Like Boracay, this place has become crowded due to opening of more and more restaurants and bars. There are also a lot of attractions to do for tourists such as scubadiving, island hopping, dolphin watching, snorkeling, kitesurfing and fishing.

Chasing Waterfalls in Badian, South Cebu: Kawasan

396-cebu-philippines-kawasan-falls

This is my third trip in the southwest part of the Cebu Province and I headed for Badian. The Municipality of Badian is located 98 kms and 2 hours southwest of Cebu City. It is bounded by the Municipality of Moalboal on the north; Municipality of Alegria on the south.

The most common destination in Badian is the Kawasan Falls in Brgy Matutinao, 10km going south from the poblacion. A church on the left side serves as the landmark going to the falls. There is also an available parking area in front of the church since vehicles are not allowed to go inside to conserve the natural beauty of the waterfalls.

Some will offer guide when you reach the area but it’s not recommended since the 1.5km trail is really easy and just a mere 15 to 30 minutes leisure walk from the national road. The road is actually wide enough for 4-wheel vehicles since there are residents near Kawasan Falls.

Banacon Island: Mangrove Forest

img_0071

The Banacon Island Mangrove Forest is now an eco-tourist destination with an approximate area of 425 hectares of Mangrove Forest established through community effort that started last 1957. Under the Municipality of Getafe, located north of Bohol province, it is now considered as the biggest mangrove plantation in the country.

This extensive mangrove plantation also has established scenic trails beneath overlapping and intertwining mature mangrove trees that are breathless to behold. The trees are a monoculture of the “bakauan” (Rhizophora Stylosa), the most common mangrove specie found in the river systems, estuaries and off-shore islands of the Bohol province.

“MY DREAM PLACE”

vacation-to-france-paris-1-728

Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.

The Paris Region had a GDP of €624 billion (US $687 billion) in 2012, accounting for 30.0 percent of the GDP of France, and ranking it as one of the five wealthiest regions in Europe; it is the banking and financial centre of France, and contains the headquarters of 29 of the 31 French companies ranked in the 2015 Fortune Global 500.

Paris is my dream place to travel together with my family.
